Senior Care Worker/Care Coordinator

Wages: £14 per hour

Working Hours: 38.5 hours/week

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Assisting clients with daily tasks such as washing, dressing, grooming, and using the toilet. This is a core part of the job and requires empathy, dignity, and a focus on maintaining the individual's independence.

  • Must have access to your car and be able to drive to service user's home and take service user out where necessary.

  • Assist service users with medication administration, and monitoring for any changes in a client's physical or mental health.

  • Helping clients move around safely, this may involve using specialized equipment like hoists or walking aids.

  • Assist with meal preparation and ensuring adequate hydration.

  • Provide emotional support and engage service users in meaningful activities.

  • Support with light domestic duties and ensure a clean and safe environment.

  • Assist with the induction and training of new Care Workers.

  • Monitor the performance of Care Workers and provide constructive feedback.

  • Conduct regular spot checks and observations of care delivery.

  • Assist in the assessment of new service users and the development of person-centred care plans.

  • Developing, implementing, and regularly reviewing individual care plans to ensure they are tailored to each person's specific needs and preferences.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to care reviews.

  • Maintain effective communication with service users, their families, and advocates.

  • Liaise with other healthcare professionals.

  • Report any safeguarding concerns to the appropriate authorities.

  • Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures.

  • Overseeing and monitoring a team of care assistants or support workers, providing guidance, and acting as a positive role model. This includes taking responsibility for the service and the team during their shift.

  • Providing guidance and support to new and junior staff.

  • Conducting formal supervision sessions and spot-checks to ensure care is being delivered to the required standards.

  • Maintaining meticulous records and documentation, reporting any incidents or concerns, and communicating effectively with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals (e.g., GPs, social workers).

  • Taking charge during emergencies and providing guidance and support to the care team.

Qualifications and Person Specification:

  • Good Communicator: You should be able to communicate clearly and build a strong rapport with clients and their families.

  • Team Player: You will work as part of a supportive team and should be able to follow instructions and communicate effectively with colleagues.

  • Physically Capable: The role may require assisting clients with movement and daily tasks.

  • Mandatory: Right to work in the United Kingdom.

  • Desired: Previous experience in a care-related role is a plus, but not required, as full training will be provided. A relevant qualification like an NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care is desirable but not essential.
